Planning for the Holidays Starts Now

It may feel early to be talking about Christmas in May, but in the world of interior design and furnishings, the summer months are often the ideal time to begin planning if you hope to have a fully completed home by the holidays. One of the biggest surprises for many homeowners is learning how long furniture procurement can take.

Depending on the piece, furniture lead times can range anywhere from eight to ten weeks, and in many cases even longer for custom upholstery or specialty items. We are also living in a time where many outside factors can affect delivery timelines, including tariffs, transportation delays, and changing global conditions. While we always work closely with our suppliers and trades to keep projects moving smoothly, there are often circumstances outside anyone’s control.

Because of this, thoughtful planning early in the process becomes incredibly important.Creating a home that feels layered, intentional, and personal takes time.

The design process often involves sourcing, collecting pricing, presenting selections, refining details, making thoughtful adjustments, placing orders, and then patiently waiting for everything to arrive. While it can be tempting to speed through decisions, allowing time for the process usually results in a home that feels far more cohesive and thoughtfully considered.

The holiday season is often when people gather most in their homes. It is when dining rooms are full, kitchens become gathering places, and living spaces are used more than ever. Planning ahead allows the home to feel complete, comfortable, and ready to fully enjoy during that season. Starting early also helps avoid the stress of last minute decisions and rushed purchases. So while Christmas may still feel far away, summer is truly the season where holiday ready homes begin to take shape.

Thoughtful interiors are rarely created overnight. The most beautiful spaces are usually the result of careful planning, collaboration, and patience along the way.
