Riverstone Retreat: Designed for Everyday Living
Riverstone Retreat was designed with the intention of creating a calm and welcoming home for a busy young family.
From the beginning, our clients envisioned an all white interior, something that initially surprised us given they have two young boys and a very active household. While all white interiors can sometimes feel stark or formal, we saw an opportunity to create something softer, warmer, and deeply livable.
To bring that vision to life, we focused on layering subtle shades of white and introducing rich texture throughout the home. Rather than relying on contrast through bold colour, the design uses materiality and tonal variation to create depth and interest.
In the living room, soft performance fabrics and textured upholstery help the space feel relaxed and inviting while still being durable enough for everyday family life. Crypton fabrics played an important role throughout the home, allowing the family to enjoy light coloured furnishings without sacrificing practicality. The layered pillows, soft boucle textures, and warm wood accents work together to create a space that feels comfortable and approachable rather than overly formal.
The kitchen continues the same quiet palette, pairing creamy white cabinetry with warm wood tones and soft brass details. The balance of painted and natural finishes helps ground the space while maintaining the light and airy feeling the clients were drawn to.

Throughout the home, texture became one of the defining design elements. From soft drapery and warm oak flooring to layered textiles and subtle stone finishes, each material was selected to bring warmth and dimension to the all white backdrop. Even the quieter spaces, like the upper hallway and primary bathroom, were designed with simplicity and softness in mind. Curved furniture, natural light, and tactile materials help create moments that feel serene and effortless.
